I know it's just another number but for some reason it feels incredibly significant for me. It's the end of the youthful milestone ages...when you turn 10 you're finally in the double digits, at 13 you're allowed to use the majority of websites, 15 you can work and get a learner's permit, 16 the license, 18 adulthood and voting, 19 last of the teens, 20 is first of the twenties, 21 alcohol is allowed... but then 22 is the age most people are when they graduate college and start off on the rest of their lives. It's frightening to me because it feels like the first real step into adulthood and away from childhood. I'm a kid a heart always and I've technically been closer to 22 than 21 for six months now, but the number is significant to me.
Anyway, in my manic and frantic last push to squeeze that last bit of 21 out of my 21st year, I've been very busy.
In the last week alone I've had my regular school classes (full load) and 4 very busy days of work, of course, as well as:
- Taught myself to play the trumpet (I'm up to the level of "Frere Jacques" already!)
- Bought a unicycle and started teaching myself to ride it
- Bought a brand-new case, lots of memory, and a professional graphics card for my computer
- Produced two minute-long films from start to finish - "Manly Gaga" and "Caroline's Going to China" (see them below)
- Made some new artistic body paint self-portrait photos (below)
- Composed, lit, and rendered several 3D scenes of the classic Fischer Price Little People (below)
- Had my photo taken with my siblings in a field of bluebonnets by master photographer Chera
- Went out for dinner with family to the Twisted Root (and paid for everyone - a rarity for me)
- Went with family on another Nature Challenge to the very cool Live Green Expo at the Plano Convention Center (photos below)
- Played a ton of games on my computer, 3DS, and Wii, and watched at least 40 TV episodes of current shows
- Made more major sweeping updates to my website
- PLANNED to take the test to join Mensa, but that was foiled by my car being magically unavailable
- Got free ice cream at Ben & Jerry's on their free scoop day
- Ordered JOSEPH's birthday present plus an extra present for myself
- Wrote a news article for my LGBT-on-dA group
- Cleaned out and completely re-organized my bathroom
- Got a letter of recommendation from one of my professors for an internship
- Applied for even more Internship positions at animation studios
- Ordered the supplies to create a permanent flat-work presentation portfolio of my work
- And rebooted this blog!
And I'm sure there's more I've already forgotten. This has been a very long week. I missed my haircut.
I'll add all of the photos and videos as I'm able to. To see the rest of my bluebonnet and Live Green Expo photos, visit my facebook profile.
